About Your Doula Aurelia
Salut, I am Aurelia, a certified birth and postnatal doula who has trained with Developing Doulas, an approved preparation course recognised by Doula UK. Thanks for joining me!
Born in France and brought up in Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, I have lived in England for over 20 years and now reside on the Essex/Suffolk border with my incredibly supportive partner and our blended family.
Giving birth to my three sons was amazing and empowering and has completely changed the way I see myself and the world. My passion for supporting families through pregnancy, birth and the first few weeks of parenthood comes from my own experiences - I had a back-to-back baby, a natural breeched-birth (VBB) during lockdown and a homebirth - and from my absolute love of helping others. I love making a difference!
My approach
I am 100% parent-led: I will provide you and your family with continuous and non-judgemental care, understanding, information, love and support. My role is to support and nurture YOUR decisions and make the process as beautiful as possible, whatever the circumstances.
I am always building on my knowledge with regular workshops and I am a bit of a bookworm. If I can’t provide you with support in the areas you need, then I will seek out and signpost you to local practitioners who can help. I am on hand at every stage to discuss all the options available to you.
Becoming a parent or adding to your family is a wonderful experience, but it can be confusing and overwhelming at times! I believe my experience and knowledge can help you on this journey. There is a doula for everyone - get in touch and see if I am the right one for you!
Outside of work, I spend my time raising my children, volunteering at my local hospital maternity ward, going on walks, paddle boarding, cooking for family and friends and travelling.

My key areas of interest
Doulas Without Borders
I am a member of this amazing volunteering group offering accessible, grassroots services to women and childbearing people experiencing disadvantages and financial hardship during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
VBB (Vaginal Breeched Birth)
Having had a physiological vaginal breeched birth during lockdown (June 2020), I was motivated by two factors which guided my own decision making: the evidence and the choice. I can signpost you to the latest information and research, help you create your VBB birth plan and provide details of a local VBB specialist if further help is required.
Infant Feeding Support
In 2023, I joined the Volunteers Infant Feeding Team at my local hospital to help women on the postnatal ward with any breastfeeding or bottle feeding questions, offering them advice, guidance and support. I absolutely it!
Breastfeeding After Emergency Caesarean Section
I have completed a research project around this topic because nearly 40% of all births are by C-section with nearly half of them being emergency ones. Having breastfed my three children for a total of three years (and still going!) and knowing how difficult it can be, I feel passionate about supporting families and providing them with practical tips and help.
Improving Parenting Services
I am a member of the Colchester Hospital MVP (East Suffolk and North Essex Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership), which aims to help improve services for expectant and new parents.
Postnatal Planning
Having had my second baby during lockdown, I know how difficult and isolating life after birth can be. I have a passion for helping people prepare physically and mentally and have put together a postnatal intentions booklet to help parents think about the things they need to put into place now so they can look after themselves physically and emotionally in the early days and weeks after baby is born. Head to my postnatal doula page for more information!
